Interactive Widgets

Promptsy MCP tools display interactive widgets that let you browse, copy, and manage prompts directly in your AI conversation.

Available Widgets​

Prompt Browser​

Displayed by browse_prompts.

Features:

  • Tabs: All, Recent, Starred
  • Prompt cards: Title, description, category
  • Copy button: One-click copy to clipboard
  • Expand view: See full prompt body
  • Variable indicators: Shows {{variable}} count

Public Prompt Browser​

Displayed by search_public_prompts.

Features:

  • Search results: Matching prompts with highlights
  • Author info: Username and display name
  • Stats: Copies, forks, stars
  • Actions: View, copy, fork, star

Save Confirmation​

Displayed after save_prompt succeeds.

Features:

  • Success message: Confirmation with prompt title
  • Quick link: Open in Promptsy to edit
  • Metadata summary: Tags, category, models

Variable Fill​

For prompts with {{variable}} syntax (Solo+ only).

Features:

  • Variable inputs: Fill each variable
  • Live preview: See the filled prompt
  • Variable sets: Choose from saved sets
  • Copy options: Copy filled or raw

Interacting with Widgets​

Keyboard Navigation​

Widgets support keyboard navigation:

  • Tab: Move between elements
  • Enter: Activate buttons
  • Escape: Close expanded views

Copy to Clipboard​

Click the copy button on any prompt to copy it. You'll see confirmation:

  • "Copied!" appears briefly
  • The prompt is now in your clipboard

Expanding Prompts​

Click a prompt card to see:

  • Full prompt body
  • All metadata
  • Additional actions

Click again or press Escape to collapse.

Widget Styling​

Widgets match Promptsy's dark theme:

  • Dark background (#0a0a0a)
  • Lime accent color (#BFFF00)
  • Neon highlights for interactive elements

Browser Support​

Widgets work in:

  • Claude Desktop (macOS, Windows, Linux)
  • ChatGPT web interface
  • Other MCP-compatible clients

Fallback​

If widgets aren't supported, you'll see:

  • Plain text summary of prompts
  • Markdown-formatted results
  • Links to open in Promptsy

Customization​

Widget appearance is controlled by Promptsy. Currently, customization options include:

  • Limit: Control how many prompts are shown
  • View: Expand/collapse prompt details

Future versions may include additional customization.

Widgets are designed with accessibility in mind:

  • ARIA labels: Screen reader support
  • Keyboard navigation: Full keyboard access
  • Color contrast: Meets WCAG guidelines
  • Focus indicators: Clear focus states

Performance​

Widgets are optimized for speed:

  • Lazy loading: Images load on demand
  • Pagination: Large results are paginated
  • Caching: Recent results are cached

Troubleshooting​

Widget Not Loading​

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try refreshing the AI conversation
  3. Re-authorize the Promptsy connection

Copy Not Working​

  1. Check browser clipboard permissions
  2. Try using keyboard shortcut (Ctrl/Cmd+C)
  3. Click the copy button again

Widget Looks Broken​

  1. Try a different AI client
  2. Check for client updates
  3. Use text-only fallback by asking for "plain text" results
